CITY OF BARRIE CELEBRATES JANUARY AS CRIME STOPPERS MONTH

January has been declared Crime Stoppers Month world wide and also marks the 23rd Anniversary of Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka.

Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka thanks Mayor Aspden and the City of Barrie for raising the Crime Stoppers flag at Barrie City Hall yesterday January 11, 2010, in celebration of January being declared as Crime Stoppers Month. The flag will remain at City Hall for the duration of January.

In attendance at the ceremony were (left to right) Mayor David Aspden, Barrie Committee Chair Gord McNeice, Committee Member Peter Eddy, Police Co-ordinator Cst. Dawn Martin, Committee Member George Faulkner, Committee Friend Rita Faulkner, Former Chair Joanne Gates.

Flag raising ceremonies are taking place throughout the month of January at various locations to help raise awareness of Crime Stoppers and their partnerships with the Public, the Police, and the Media.

Crime Stoppers is Looking for New Board and Community Committee Members January 2010 Crime Stoppers is a partnership that merges the media, the police and the public with the aim of solving crime and keeping our communities safe.

Crime Stoppers is a non profit charitable organization that is supported by donations of money, goods, services and volunteers. Committee and board members from across Simcoe, Dufferin and Muskoka hold events and fundraise to increase public awareness and raise the necessary funds to support the program. The program works because people are committed to their communities and get involved.

Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka is looking for volunteers from our communities to assist the Crime Stoppers program by getting involved as committee members or to the board of directors. If you have the time to commit to a worthwhile community orientated organization that will aid local police keep our communities safer call us for an application.

The conclusion to this year promises to be busy for Crime Stoppers of Simcoe- Dufferin- Muskoka. We would look forward to working with new committee members or board members in an effort to assist the police in their fight against crime.
